Arabsat considers suing Meles regime
(Addis Voice)–The Arab Satellites Communication Organization (Arabsat) has been considering to take legal action against the Meles regime, reliable sources said. According to our sources, Arabsat lawyers are investigating ways of holding the rogue regime to account for violating international law by beaming powerful radio signals that affected a number of satellite TV broadcasts in a bid to jam transmissions of Ethiopian Satellite Television (ESAT).
ESAT’s management spokesman, Kinfu Assefa, also confirmed the veracity of the report to Deutsche Welle Amharic. In a brief interview with the station, KInfu said that ESAT is also discussing ways of taking a joint legal action with Arabsat as it is the primary target of the airwave piracy being committed by the rogue regime.
He also noted that ESAT has been suspended indefinitely to protect other broadcasters from the attack. Arabsat has already suspended ETV transmissions which are used to broadcast propaganda to Ethiopians in the Diaspora. Kinfu said that Arabsat has now identified the source of the interference. Radio, TV, cellular and other electronic frequencies are regulated by international conventions. The International Telecommunication Union, a UN agency in which Ethiopia is a member state, regulates information and communication technology issues including spectrum allocation.
Arabsat told Deutsche Welle that it will issue a statement once it gets a response for its inquiries posed to the Meles regime.
The Meles regime has already joined the league of worst rogue states, such North Korea, Cuba, Burma and Iran, which are persistent offenders of airwave piracy.

Arabsat suspends ETV broadcasts
July 28, 2010–One of the world’s top satellite TV operators, the Arab Satellites Communication Organization (Arabsat), has decided to suspend the Meles regime from using its services after repeatedly engaging in illegal signal interference and jamming efforts affecting a number of TV channels including ESAT and its own ETV satellite broadcasts. According to well-informed sources, Arabsat, which is owned by the Arab Leaugue, had previously warned the regime to stop its backward and illegal frequency interference activities that has been affecting the operations of the organization.
Using expensive Chinese frequency interference technology, the Meles regime has been jamming radio broadcasts such as the Voice of America and Deutsche Welle Amharic broadcasts to Ethiopia. After the launch of ESAT, Meles reportedly gave direct orders to his subordinates to jam the channel at any cost. ESAT management team is currently making efforts to restore services. Both ETV and ESAT’s broadcasts are off the air at the moment.

Ethiopian Satellite Television (ESAT) Intercepted for Third Time
For the past 24 hours, Ethiopian Satellite Television (ESAT) broadcasts and transmissions in Ethiopia, the Middle East and Europe have been disrupted for the third time since it began service on May 2010. Along with ESAT, the satellite service of state-controlled Ethiopian Television was also knocked off the air.
Our evidence on the source of the illegal signal interference points exclusively in the direction of the Ethiopian Government. Beginning on July 20, the satellite system carrying ESAT signals was bombarded by intense and sustained radio frequency interference disrupting a whole set of services provided by various public and private entities. The evidence gathered by ESAT shows that the Ethiopian Government in illegal collaboration with certain parties in the satellite business attempted to isolate and disrupt ESAT signals. Appartently, that effort backfired and knocked off the broadcast signals of the Ethiopian Government along with a number of other international satellite service providers. The Ethiopian Government by attempting to knock out ESAT ended up knocking itself off the air.
ESAT in cooperation with other impacted parties shall seek appropriate legal remedies to stop the Ethiopian Government from engaging in patently illegal interference in satellite communications.
ESAT continues to receive messages of public support and encouragement for its mission to bring news, information and entertainment to the Ethiopian public. As we have done recently when our satellite services were jammed, we again wish to extend our to appreciation to the friends and supporters of ESAT. We wish to assure our viewers that we will seek all legal and technological methods to overcome any interference directed at ESAT programming by the Ethiopian Government. After ESAT starts we hope to get truth information but I as I have seen when they have spread there information some unnecessary words and exaggerated information are reached to me through their ESAT program.

I respect all viewers, I commented both parties Ethiopian ETV and ESAT on the same date. When ESAT discontinued I was watching it. Before it discontinued directly Ethiopian TV program is interfaced and replaced ESAT. That time I assumed might be there is some errors. Suddenly I suspected that there was interference of programs. After some hours ETV also discontinued.

Why everyone runs for judgement and unecessary comment? ESAT is only on the air for a few weeks,on & off.
What we like is to have any information regarding Ethiopia. Selection is for us and our mind, unless infected by some virus of hatrade. Write your comment direct to ESAT managment for a better information flow. Don't try to disrupt what we are accepting ESAT as an alternative media to ETV.
I loved watching ESAT. It was truly eye openning to c what the TPLF is doing to Ethiopia and it’s people. Well, I read all the comments after the dismaying news. This is what the wayannes want, just disheartening the majority of the people of Ethiopia. Those who are supporting herein this scandalous regime are brainless citizens who are either 'hodamoch' or ' zeregnoch' , why not, may be both. I always wonder how people become mentally blind to the extent of not being able cognizant of the current conditions of the country and the world at large. How on earth a citizen of the 21st century cannot analyze the heartbreaking situations of Ethiopia? Aren't we hungry? Aren't we suffering from lack of democracy? Aren't we languishing by poverty and undemocratic and ethnocentric regime which is headed by mutton-headed few individuals that have come from one ethnic group? Has not our country become the last in every thing?
Any how, woyannes never sleep unless ESAT and us, the people, are all extinct. They are here for that end. Unless they exterminate us all they don't sleep well. That is why they working day and night to close all the doors that may bring in some sort of relief to the people of this country. I they think something may give us a relief, even a temporary one, they leave no stone unturned to deprave us of that opportunity, at any cost, even they can sell all the lands of the country except the palace which is their lair. They are diabolic in nature. They know ESAT cannot fire even a bullet of a pistol. They know ESAT cannot impose any harm at least now at this stage of its existence. But they don't want to see people become happy due to this outlet of people's grudges. These woyannes, who don't have any likes in the world, are now desperate. I think it must be only they that dares to jam satellites at present with expenditures of millions of dollars while millions of people are starving. Millions of people shall die of hunger than the throne of Meles Zenawi is in trouble. This is the irony of the cruelest Ethiopian history. The struggle between the vampire Goliath and the little David is continuing. Who will win? We will see.
Let me remind you of one story: One man got God while walking to somewhere. God promised the man, saying," Ask me any thing you like and I will do that double to your best friend as well." The man politely asked God to give him sometime for thinking about the kind of the gift. After a little while, the man mad up his mind and submitted his this proposal to God> " Dear God the Almighty, I want you to blind one of my eyes. That befits me as your gift for today." You see, this man can live with one of his eyes while his friend is going to be totally blind. It makes me remind what the minority TPLF gangs did some years back when they try to jam VOA and DW Amharic service. In Addis, We were listening Chinese technicians chu chu ..sound on FM Addis and even on Ethiopian Radio while they were trying to silence Ethiopians who try to tune to other medias except Dimste Woyane and Fana.
Now, their failed strategy backfired on them. Knowing that Ethiopians are ignoring ETV and switched their channel to ESAT, their attempt to jam ESAT resulted in jamming ETV and many other channels.
This shows how the TPLF minorities destroy themselves and commit suicide by their own when the time comes.
Well…. If I am to believe that ESAT is a new outlet with impartiality to any one, then their actions suggest otherwise. I would accept the opinion that ESAT as a TV channel is dedicated to bring down the government of Ethiopia by any means necessary (including lies). Apart from the programmes they run, only by looking at the people who runs it tell what ESAT is all about.
