Sibhat Gebregziabher passes away

The famous Ethiopian author Sibhat Gebregziabher died on Monday, Feb 20th 2012, at the age of 84 in Addis Ababa.

Sibhat was born in 1928 in the historical town of Adwa, Northern Ethiopia. He published numerous works of fiction and non-fiction in French and Amharic. He was also known for his short stories and controversial newspaper columns.
Sibhat also worked as columnist for Addis Admas,  Ethiopian Herald and Addis Zemen newspapers, as well as the defunct Menen magazine and others in his long writing career.

Sibhat led an unorthodox and heretic lifestyle, which was reflected in his writings. Sebhat enjoyed talking and writing explicitly about sexual relationships. He claimed that his experience in France was liberating to him.
Some of the books he authored are Letum Aynegalegn, Tekusat, Sebategnaw Melek and Mastawesha.
